Dermal and Non-Permanent Fillers

Botox and Dermal filler wrinkle injections - before and after photoDermal Fillers are a popular option for people who wish to reduce the signs of ageing, without resorting to expensive and risky plastic surgery.

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical treatment that can be administered to reduce nasolabial folds, marionette lines, restore volume and fullness in the face or plump your lips.

Dermal fillers are highly effective at restoring the fullness and plumpness of the area they’re applied to, as well as stimulating the growth of collagen giving you a more youthful and fuller appearance.

Can You Reverse Ageing with Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers do not reverse ageing. However, they are a safe and effective method of reversing the visible signs of ageing, such as light to moderate lines, and wrinkles. Dermal filler and Botox injections can also have some preventative, anti-ageing effects. e.g. by ensuring that existing light lines and wrinkles don’t become deeper.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers, also known as “injectables” or “wrinkle fillers,” fill in the area under the skin. Some fillers are natural and some are synthetic, but they all work to improve the appearance of ageing skin in the following ways:

  • filling in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases
  • improving other imperfections like scars
  • filling out thin or wrinkled lips
  • plumping up cheeks
  • contouring the jaw line and other areas of the face

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

The most popular dermal filler is a hyaluronic acid, a natural substance which appears in a body. Hyaluronic acid is non-permanent and is usually very well tolerated by the patients with no side effects. Hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers come under different brand names such as:

  • Belotero Balance
  • HylaForm
  • Juvederm
  • Restylane

Each type works in a slightly different way with varying results. The results last from several months to over a year or two. Some research shows that repeated injections may help stimulate the body’s own natural production of collagen, so you could need them less often with repeated use.

Non-Permanent Injectable Lip Filler

Lip Filler Before and AfterNon Surgical Lip Enhancement can be a perfect solution for instantly fuller, plumper and sexier lips. A non-permanent lip filler, made from a substance that occurs naturally in your body, hyaluronic acid, is injected, after numbing the lips with a bit of local anaesthetic, using a very fine needle.

The filler, used around the edge of the lips, can reduce, and often minimize those vertical smoker or ageing lines that extend vertically upwards from the top lip. The lip filler can also correct unhappy looking, turned downwards mouth corners, and eradicate creases around the mouth, while adding volume, and enhancing the lips.

The treatment is perfectly safe, takes less than an hour and the effect lasts 6 months to a year. If, for some reason, you are unhappy with the results, the treatment is fully reversible, so the risk is minimal.

Synthetic Wrinkle Fillers

The use of synthetic wrinkle fillers is not recommended and we do not offer them at WQ Dental. Although synthetic fillers produce longer-lasting effects, they are more likely to cause side effects. And when not used correctly, synthetic wrinkle fillers may cause disfigurement. It is better to stay away from them.
