Porcelain Veneers

Very thin laminates of porcelain; veneers are bonded to the visible surface of your teeth. Because we match them accurately to the colour of your teeth and they have a beautiful, natural finish, it is virtually impossible for anybody to see you have a veneer or veneers.

Porcelain Veneers transform discoloured, chipped or ‘gappy’ teeth to give you a smile makeover. They can also be used as an alternative to braces for correcting crooked teeth.

They other advantages of porcelain veneers is that they do not discolour, last a long time and do not require special care – you just look after them in the same way as your natural teeth.

Porcelain Veneers – Frequently Asked Questions

One of the most exciting cosmetic dentistry techniques involves bonding porcelain to the front surface of the tooth. Its main advantages are the beautiful glossy finish and resistance to staining.

Are veneers right for me?

Although porcelain veneers provide beautiful results, it may be necessary to remove small amounts of enamel, however they may be the best option if you:

  • Want significant change in the colour of your teeth
  • Want beautiful teeth with less risk of staining
  • Are willing to have more invasive, more expensive treatment
  • Are prepared to wear a biteguard at night to prevent chipping of the porcelain

What you should know:

  • The dentist will often advise whitening before veneers for a better result
  • There is much less tooth reduction compared to a crown
  • Veneers are a great way to close gaps between spaced teeth
  • Porcelain is like glass, strong but brittle – if it cracks it may have to be replaced.
